pngInLaw's Internet Retriever Download Webpage

Date of current pngInLaw Internet Retriever:

8 October 2005 (Once this Retriever has been installed, the Internet Retriever database on your computer should have this date at the top.)

What is the Internet Retriever:

The Internet Retriever allows NiuMedia Pacific's (pngInLaw) clients to download a relatively small file (PG_I_RET.NFO) containing legislation, judgments and other legal information that have become available since the last pngInLaw CD update was published. (See "Contents of current pngInLaw Internet Retriever" below for details of contents of file.)

How to download the Internet Retriever:

[Note: If you have not downloaded and installed the Internet Retriever before, we suggest that you print out these instructions and refer to them when you are installing the Retriever.]

To download the file:

If you have problems saving the file by clicking the left mouse button, try clicking on the words retrieve.exe with the right mouse button and then select Save Target As... or Save Link As from the drop down menu list. (You will then get a message to choose the location on your hard drive where you want to save the retrieve.exe file.)

Note: If you have problems downloading and/or running the retrieve.exe file, try downloading the retrieve.zip file (click on the words retrieve.zip), or contact NiuMedia Pacific using one of the contact methods on our Contact us webpage

How to install the Internet Retriever Infobase:

Once you have saved the retrieve.exe or retrieve.zip file on your hard drive, locate the file, double-click to open it and then follow the instructions.

With the retrieve.exe file click on the Setup Button.

With the retrieve.zip file, click on the Install Button. Follow the instructions on your screen. (You may need to click on the WinZip Classic button to see the Install Button.)

Make sure that you install the pngInLaw Internet Retriever file (PG_I_RET.NFO) in your pngInLaw folder. By default, the installation process is designed to install the file into the C:\pnginlaw folder. If pngInLaw is installed on a network drive, you will be prompted to change the destination drive to that location. (Note: If pngInLaw is installed on your network, make sure that the pngInLaw Internet Retriever is installed in the same folder on your network drive.)

Reminder: You need to first download the Internet Retriever exe file and then install the pngInLaw Retriever infobase from the exe file. Merely downloading the exe file to the pngInLaw folder will not update the pngInLaw Internet Retriever on your hard drive.

Making sure that the latest Internet Retriever has been installed:

The new Internet Retriever file will automatically overwrite the old Internet Retriever file. To make sure that this has happened, check that the date at the top of the Internet Retriever file  (PG_I_RET.NFO) is the same as the date of the current pngInLaw Internet Retriever set out at the top of this page. After you have installed the new Internet Retriever on your hard drive, open the Internet Retriever database (pg_i_ret.nfo) and at the top it should state the date of the current pngInLaw Internet Retriever (see top of this webpage for this date).

Notification:

If you want to be notified when a new pngInLaw Internet Retriever infobase is placed on this website, please email pngInLaw to add your name to the notification list.
