NiuMedia Pacific (tasInLaw) publishes a Tasmanian Sentencing Database which contains over 3,000 Comments on Passing Sentence (COPS) as well as details of sentences handed down by Judges of the Supreme Court of Tasmania from 1989 onwards.

The Supreme Court of Tasmania provided most of the materials in electronic format. tasInLaw then converted all of the data to a Folio Views infobase. The data was then thoroughly checked and supplemented from information contained in paper records in the Supreme Court Registry.

The initial project was jointly undertaken with the Tasmanian Bar Association and was partly funded by a donation from the Law Foundation of Tasmania.

NiuMedia Pacific (tasInLaw) continues to update this service on a regular basis through publication of its monthly CD-updating service, and through its Internet Retriever service.
